I open my eyes and hear the sounds of various birds singing their morning songs. I don't hear anything else other than this. Twilight envelops the world at this early hour, and then, the fiery Sun slowly rises over the mountain tops casting the golden glow of morning on the land and sea. My body is relaxed and still, at peace. The entire morning is like this, quiet, still, peaceful. The ocean down below the cliff's edge crashes softly against the pebble lined beach. I'm in paradise.
Mr. H and I set out on an adventure to explore the peninsula we've just awakened on and we venture to a path at the cliff's edge. It looks promising, but steep. Before we can question if it's the right way or not, we lose traction and slide...and slide...and slide all the way down the mountain's side until we reach the bottom where we meet the other trail more traveled. What a ride! We have arrived. Before us lies the secret cove, where mermaids live. The water is the kind of turquoise vibrancy and clear transparency. We remove our shoes and wade out into the water, as if we can't get in soon enough. There in the middle of the cove, is an island made of large slabs of rock and reef, a mini mountain! As the tide sucks out, our chance to travel towards and jump on it comes, so we take our chance and alas we are on the mini mountain made for mermaids to sun their long hair and shiny scales. We explore and find our respective spots to sit and enjoy. I find a perfect chair shaped rock overlooking the edge and I take a seat, laying back and melting into the comfort of the water's music. Ocean surrounds me on all sides and I feel nurtured and full to the brim with serenity. I never want to leave. It's magical in so many ways, so many ways that can only be felt if one is here fully immersed in it. I swivel around so that my feet dangle over the edge and below is the reef full of life; purple urchins, blue fish, emerald green seaweed. I watch the fish swimming to and fro and want to be those fish. I have the urge to remove my clothes and dive in, but choose to observe instead. I honestly don't want to leave, so I don't and I come back to the present, enjoying the home I have found for this moment in time. I feel it in my bones, the connection to something greater and the cells of my body are doing a happy dance.
